Like all Beltrán guitars, the Modela Especial can be built in any length scale. The inspiration for this guitar is the mid-1960s Ramirez 1a guitars, which initially had a 664 mm scale, which was a bit larger and more robust than other guitars of the time. Ramirez guitars built in this time period have been referred to as the Golden Era guitars.

One has the choice of Western Red Cedar, Englemann Spruce top. Back and sides are Indian Rosewood, laminated with Spanish Cypress, or another similar wood. The standard tuners are the Gotos, pictured. The finish is French Polish. At the time of order, the style of rosette and bindings/purflings will be determined. The purchaser may use either a prior design, or a new one based upon the purchaser’s wishes. Options include Cocobolo or Brazilian Rosewood for the back/sides, and Redwood, Port Orford Cedar, or German Spruce for the Top. Other options include upgraded tuners and French polish. Each guitar is individually built in the shop.
